Jack Murray
Born and raised in North London , Panik first put paint to wall around 1999 gaining quick recognition for artistic skill. In 2001, alongside four other friends from North West London who were all active in the art of graffiti writing, he formed the ATG crew. ATG, “Ahead of the Game” soon became one of the most talked about and prolific graffiti crews to appear on the London streets. Between the years 2002-2005 they dominated the London scene and it was hard to find a corner of the city where their work wasn't staring back at you. They re-introduced techniques and approaches to painting that had been pretty much slept on in the streets for years.
Panik is recognised for his wall scaling, Spiderman-like antics. His work would appear on the rooftops of almost any high street in the city and further afield, landing him the title of London 's “Rooftop King".
Around 2005, Panik's work started to take a new shape. It was not always just his name that you would see painted on the streets but new work that reflected his passion for a broader spectrum of artistry. After six months spent creating work in his bedroom he took to the streets. The general public embraced him more than ever! His trademark faces and fly characters brightened up their journeys and completely manipulated and lit up the streets! No area was decorated more than Kentish Town which is at present an outdoor gallery of Panik's work.
Graffiti artist Panik is now taking his work from the street to the studio. While his outdoor work is applied using spray paint and emulsion to achieve a bold eye-catching effect quickly; his studio work is more rich in texture, using mixed media, and are often very reflective of his mind state, past experiences and the emotions which encapsulate him as an active graffiti artist.
