Fiona Lumbers

Fiona Lumbers paintings have a sense of ghostly/dreamlike dislocation. The scenes depicted of isolated woodland clearings, lakes and forest glades occaisionally inhabited by carefree if somewhat melancholic adolescents, are not quite of waking life. The locations they hint at are solitary ones. Using otherworldly colour schemes and dramatic lighting, Lumbers des cribes scenes that are familiar yet stripped of identifying characteristics; estranged and dreamlike.
